Here's an easy drinkable dessert that’s ready in as much time as it takes to brew a cup of coffee because, essentially, that's all you really need to do.
An affogato is an Italian dessert comprising a scoop of vanilla gelato topped with hot espresso. But, like most things in Italy, this delicious concoction is open to interpretations. In America, we replace the gelato with ice cream (any flavor will do) and the espresso with regular coffee. And these two ingredients is all that you need. Actually, there's' a third, but it's garnish, so we'll let you decide how to handle it.
In this fall-centric version, we went with pumpkin ice cream and caramel pecan coffee. Together, they create a flavor that's similar to a latte, but infinitely better. Buttery bliss at its finest!
- 12 cup pumpkin ice cream
- 4 ounces Harry & David Caramel Pecan Coffee
- Butter cookies and/or cinnamon sticks for garnish
- Make the coffee. While that's happening, chill two small bowls in the freezer.
- Scoop 1/4 cup of the ice cream into the chilled bowls.
- Pour 2 ounces of coffee over the ice cream. Repeat with remaining ice cream and coffee.
- Garnish with cookies and cinnamon sticks, if desired, and serve immediately.
